Welcome to Rotherham Harriers & Athletics Club.
This pack contains information about the club. It gives details of training and competition, and explains how to become a member.
For young athletes, there is also a letter for Parents/Carers, which explains how we will look after your child, our Child Protection and Welfare policies, the values of the club, and those expected of members

The club
The club welcomes new members of all abilities. (Young athletes must be at least 8 years old). Our aim is to enable all to enjoy their athletics, and improve their performance. Our club provides a safe and enjoyable environment for all members to improve their health and fitness and to get the opportunity to compete at all levels. We do not expect everyone to win, but we do expect athletes to represent the club in competition, once they are ready to do so. We welcome parents, relatives and parent /guardians at club training sessions, both to support their athletes, and to help out.

We believe we provide a safe environment because we have achieved Clubmark status, which means we have a Child Protection Policy and Child Protection Officers on hand. The club is enjoyable because our focus is on welcoming new young members, and letting them progress at a pace and to a level that suits their ability and ambition.

At present we have about 300 members, ranging in age from 8 years upwards to 70+. Of those about half are young athletes (between 8 & 16 years of age).

The club nights are Monday and Wednesday each week from 6.00pm to 8.00pm (7:30 for younger athletes)
The sessions end later in summer. We meet at the Herringthorpe Stadium, Rotherham.
Training usually takes place outdoors but in the winter months indoor facilities are occasionally hired to provide conditioning, and other - eg. Sportshall type - athletics.

Qualified coaches are present on all club nights to instruct and guide athletes and the club has a number of qualified Graded Officials The Executive Committee is responsible for the organisation and control of the Club.
