Comments on race
This was a new venture- bringing a race into a busy area despite possible traffic issues. We deliberately kept to a small but viable field, but tried to assess whether a greater field would be OK. We provisionally think it would.
It seemed to go well, but we are interested in your views as runners and officials. What we have heard so far is positive.
If you have any comment to make, email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Consequently, after further comments, we will aim to repeat the course next season with wider advertisement
Local people seemed pleased to have the event taking place.
We had considerable interest and support from Wickersley Parish Council (eg at Winthrop Park and in Wickersley Wood) and would be happy to consider with them any possible extension, modifcation or dating of a 2018 event.
The support of marshals, official and refreshment providers was outstanding. Thank you.
If you were a provider, don't forget to claim your expenses from RHAC- you can do so via treasurer Kevin Thomas or through me if you find it easier.
COURSE: HQ, start and finish, essential marshals

The course has been changed from 2016 due to concerns about emergency access
The start is on Wood Lane. There is a short (about 400m) road run followed by a 100m lane at the back of Wickersley School
A sharp turn right takes a path iinto and through Wickersley Wood emerging (right) on to a discretionary dirt path which reaches First Lane
From First Lane a dirt field path descends due south to Second Lane.
On road at Second Lane, the course turns left (eastwards), becomes a rough track after 200m past Winthrop Gardens (open on the day) and after 100m becomes a field-side path on rough grass.
The path becomes easier as it reaches King's Pond Plantation which it circuits outside to the left.
A kissing gate gives access to a short lane at the pond, then a long uphill road to Bramley Cemetery.
At the cemetery (top of the hill), course turns left on to Wood Lane (road, used by estate vehicles) which can be taken by pavement way or left edge of road. At the limit of the housing, an exit to Wood Lane track takes you back to the Wood.
First lap, turn left into the wood or Second Lap continue straight ahead to finish (400m) on Wood Lane
